BECA's children

Marcy is a precocious little girl. She loves to meet new people and is definitely not shy. Each morning and each afternoon she travels to and from school with BECA's volunteer teachers. If you visit Marcy's home, you can often find her helping her mother with laundry or cooking, even though she is only six years old. Marcy loves to draw and express herself.

Marcy lives with her mother, stepfather and little sister Alejandrina in a very humble home in Cofradia. Both her mother and stepfather often labor hard just to find work. Often they find temporary jobs in agriculture or on one of the many nearby factory worklines. They have built their two-room home little by little, and although humble, their care and attention is evident in their handiwork.
