BECA Welcomes Two New Resource Teachers for Spring '09
BECA is delighted to welcome Suresh Samuel and Colleen Kahoe to the SJBS team for Spring 2009. Given the growing size of the student body, BECA's Board agreed to recruit two new teachers this Spring to assist with current teachers as well as provide one-on-one tutoring.
Suresh Samuel: A California native and 2002 graduate of UC Santa Barbara, Suresh spent the 6 years following college working for a Fortune 500 homebuilder and a start-up private equity investment firm, all while simultaneously trying to fill up his passport, extending his places visited to 33 countries on five continents. His first contact with Latin American soil, besides childhood trips over the border to Mexico, was on a six-week backpacking trip in 2004. He has been back four times since. In July 2008, Suresh moved to Buenos Aires and spent three months in intensive Spanish classes and volunteering at a local community center, and another four months travelling in South and Central America. Suresh joined the BECA team in Honduras in February 2009 and is excited about perfecting his clearly imperfect Spanish, eating an outrageous amount of baleadas, and finishing off the school year with an amazing group of kids.
Colleen Kahoe: Colleen graduated from Fort Lewis College as an English major before she decided to pick up her TEFL Certificate in 2008. She also has extensive volunteer experience with the Red Cross and was deployed to Gulfport/Biloxi MS as a relief worker there in 2005. Collen spent much of 2008 backpacking through South America, but headed to Honduras because she feels that "now is the time to give back."
